Locust Point Community Survey Results are In

This spring, the Locust Point Association (LPCA) created a community survey to:

  1. Understand the needs and wants of the community
  2. Help determine what LPCA should focus on as a board
  3. Understand interest areas for grants in the neighborhood
  4. Prepare for 2024 LPCA budgeting and
  5. Guide LPCA’s efforts to update our neighborhood plan. The plan’s overarching goal is to ensure that the physical, social and environmental development of Locust Point is consistent with the needs and responsibilities of those living and working in the community, and the city at large.

LPCA Baltimore Compost Collective

The LPCA is partnering with the Baltimore Compost Collective (BCC) on a program to increase composting in Locust Point. The BCC is a local service that collects food scraps from residences in Baltimore neighborhoods and composts the material at the Filbert Street Community Garden in Curtis Bay, where it is used to grow fresh produce and build urban food security. They also have a youth entrepreneurship program that employs local teenagers and trains them in workforce skills, food access programming and community-scale composting.

The LPCA is offering to cover one month of BCC services for free ($25 value) for each LPCA member!

How to join:

1.  Sign up for Compost Service
2. Wait for the BCC to deliver a composting bucket to your house
3. Once your bucket is delivered, complete the sign-up process by registering for service on the BCC website. You will receive a reminder email from BCC to do this. The service is $25/month after your first month.

If you are not an LPCA member, you may join here. Questions? Contact Dave Arndt  or Marvin Hayes.

Hosting of Private Event at Latrobe Park

Did you know you can host parties at the newly renovated Long House? Complete and submit this APPLICATION – online or by email.

Please remember, what you bring in to the park you must take out. This includes cleaning up the trash. While we are working to increase the number of trash cans, we need your help in keeping the park clean. Remember: We are responsible for our own park 🙂

Knights of Columbus Offers Affordable Event Venue

Need a place to host your next event? The Knights of Columbus building is an affordable event venue for the South Baltimore community. Located at 1338 Hull St., call 410-244-0690 to inquire about available dates.

Under Armour Parking Lot

For commuters (and residents) UA is selling guaranteed parking spots in their Triangle Lot on Hull St. for $12/day. Parking can be purchased via the Premium Parking app or using kiosks in the lot itself.

Also, residents are welcome to park in UA’s lots in the evenings after 5pm so long as they are out the next morning by 8am. For those using the UA gym, UA asks that you park in the Triangle Lot on Hull St. rather than the Station House lot closer to the building as that lot is reserved for visitors.

DID YOU KNOW?
Calling 311 to report an issue in our neighborhood like dangerous intersections, potholes, trash and debris and more helps local elected officials successfully advocate on our behalf. The more reports of an issue from residents, the more supporting evidence our representatives have in trying to improve our community. If you notice something in the neighborhood that needs addressing, submit a 311 request and email the reference number provided to contacts@mylocustpoint.org so we have a record of it.
