Earth Day Clean Up a Resounding Success
Our heartfelt thanks to the nearly 100 residents of LP who came out to support our park and peninsula clean up in honor of Earth Day! The result was less debris on our streets and a greener, cleaner environment for all of us to enjoy. A big thank you to DPW whose refuse truck whisked away many bags and piles of debris and to Miss Twist who gave out over 90 ice creams! We also appreciate the HOAs and businesses who helped to promote the event. Everyone truly made it a huge success. Join us again on May 19 for our Spring Park Maintenance Day! From 2-4pm we’ll clean, trim, plant and mulch in Latrobe Park.

LPCA Compost Program
The LPCA is Partnering with the Baltimore Compost Collective (BCC) on a program to increase composting in Locust Point. Approximately 60% of what is incinerated at the BRESCO incinerator, less than 2 miles from LP, is compostable. The BCC is a local service that collects food scraps from residences in Baltimore neighborhoods. They have been supporting LP for 8 years and service ~80 of our neighbors. They are also a youth entrepreneurship program that employs local teenagers and trains them in workforce skills, food access programming and community-scale composting.

The program is for LPCA members and easy to do.  Just sign up for the composting service and the first three months will be on the LPCA.  We will send your details to the BCC and they will deliver a composting bucket to your house.  Once your bucket is delivered, you need to complete sign-up process by registering for service on the BCC website.  You will receive a reminder email from BCC to do this.  The service is only $25 per month after the third month.  If you are not a LPCA member, you can join from at mylocustpoint.org.

If you have any question, please contact Dave Arndt at locustpointcg@gmail.com or Sophie Ragot at baltimorecompostcollective@gmail.com.

Andre Street Closure
The 1500 block of Andre St., an exit/entrance to the LP peninsula and one of the main access points to I-95 and Rt. 2, is closed. From Baltimore City Department of Transportation: The 1500 block of Andre Street is partially closed for conduit work by BGE, which includes the rebuilding of a manhole. The location of the manhole requires a lane closure along Fort Avenue and a partial closure of Andre Street while the work is being performed. Work is expected to be complete in mid-April, weather and construction schedules permitting.
