The Locust Point Community Garden is a cherished resource in our community, it provides a space for residents to come together, grow their own food, and learn about the importance of environmental stewardship. Also, it is one of the last green spaces around Baltimore’s harbor. Under Armour has decided to sell the garden space to a developer. We are asking UA to work with us to find a way forward to designate this area as a garden and community green space. If you’ve not already, please sign our petition and show that we value our green space.
Sadly, Under Armour gave our bee keepers to the end of May to remove the bee hives. The bees have quietly been moved to a trailer and driven to a new location outside of the city. UA has stopped all communication about the garden, including inquiries from the media and questions from the LPCA.
Please send the petition on to all who value green spaces and gardens. The petition results were delivered to UA via an email letter to UA by the Locust Point Civic Association. We want to work with UA to not only support their message around Sustainability, Philanthropy, Community and Values, but to enhance it. Unfortunately, it appears they are only looking to sell this property to enhance their cash flow. We are seeking foundations, charities and others that have the capabilities to buy the land and preserve it as a green space that Locust Point desperately needs. If you have any contacts or ideas, please email locustpointcg@gmail.com.
Updates on Actions Taken to Preserve Community Garden
So far, over 1,500 people have signed our petition. The petition results were delivered to UA via an email letter to UA by the Locust Point Civic Association; they reaffirmed their plan to sell the property but offered to help locate a new space. Our Maryland District 46 representatives met with UA to discuss possibilities of preserving the garden, the feedback was that UA needed the money and is proceeding with the sale. Our Maryland District 46 representatives sent UA a letter. There has been positive press in The Baltimore Banner, The Baltimore Sun, the BaltimoreBrew and the Baltimore Business Journal.

New T-Shirts in Support of Garden
We have a new garden shirt for 2023, multiple styles and colors. This will not make enough money to preserve the garden, but is a lot of fun! Please consider buying one to show your support.
Committee Chair Dave Arndt | locustpointcg@gmail.com
In partnership with Under Armour, our community garden is located at 1134 Hull St. and we offer plots for residents to grow their own plants and produce.
Currently, there is a waiting list for plot openings. The committee is looking to add more plots to accommodate demand next year. Besides individual plots, gardeners also get to taste communal items such as blueberries, strawberries, apples, pears and pumpkins.

Community Garden Mural
LP resident Nicole Buchholz recently painted a new mural facing the LP Community Garden at 1134 Hull St. The mural was painted on the side wall of the adjacent rowhome on the northern edge of the garden. The LP Community Garden is on a lot owned by Under Armour and spans from Haubert St. to Hull St. Under Armour started the garden five years ago for its employees to use, before LP resident Dave Arndt started working with the company to manage the garden when Under Armour’s campus shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The garden, which now has 60 plots, has grown in recent years after 26 new plots were added last year. An additional 18 new plots are scheduled to be added next year. Plots are available for free for Under Armour employees and LP residents. Arndt said there is a list of about 30 people waiting to get a plot at the garden. Along with gardening plots, the LP Community Garden has beehives as well as common areas with plants such as sunflowers, lavender, and rosemary. READ MORE
